With immediate effect a further branch office has been added to Weiss-Röhlig’s China network. In the central China city of Chongqing, the joint venture provides its customers with an efficient range of individual transportation services – carried out by an experienced and competent local team.
Since 14th January 2008, Weiss-Röhlig has an even stronger presence in the most populous country on earth. With the new branch offices in Chongqing, currently the biggest city in the world and China’s most important inland port, the network in China is now even more closely woven. "The city’s central location and its high degree of industrialisation means we can serve the booming Chinese market even better,” said Chen Yongquan who has worked for Gebrüder Weiss for 17 years and since 1st January 2008, as Country Manager, has been guiding the company’s fortunes in China.

With an area the size of Austria, the 32 million-inhabitant city of Chongqing, on the Yangtze river in central China, is a megacity with tremendous economic potential. A direct shipping line to Shanghai’s international port means Weiss-Röhlig can provide its customers with an environmentally friendly and efficient transport service.
The service also covers daily shipments to all major air cargo hubs in Europe, the transport of sea freight to any European port required and the continuous monitoring of goods from receipt to delivery point.
The 42 year old country manager relies on an experienced team of four members. "We also chose Chongqing because we have built up a competent team of local specialists here who best know the needs and requirements of our customers.” In China, Weiss-Röhlig employs more than 270 people in 16 branch offices. Over 190 destinations in all 22 Chinese provinces are easily reached within Weiss-Röhlig’s own network. Additional service standards set the basis for customer-oriented solutions.

GW is represented in Central and Eastern Europe in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and the Ukraine. For the 2006 financial year, the logistics enterprise generated a turnover of 870 million euros.
