The prize was presented to the company yesterday evening during a festive award ceremony in the Vienna Museumsquartier. GW launched OCC, the company’s exclusive unit train, on January 7th, 2008, featuring daily journeys between Vienna and Bludenz with a stop at Hall/Tyrol. The multimodal solution has been saving around 60 truck routes daily as well as 9,000 tons of CO2 annually since its introduction.
On September 22nd, 2008 the participating parties reached another milestone in the Austrian transport market: They expanded the successful cooperation to include the Vienna-Salzburg route. This will save an additional 5,000 truck routes per year. Other measures that further demonstrate GW’s commitment to the environment are the company’s certification according to ISO 14001 as well as substantial investments into the latest vehicle technology and energy-efficient systems.
